Most importantly, these protocols need to be robust in face of node failures.

Thereby, DecentSTM can prefer to roll back cheap transactions, rather than the costly ones. When the consensus protocol has settled and global consensus has been reached, the succeeding version is moved into the GAO’s globally consistent version history list. ) The DecentSTM protocol is not only a fully decentralized protocol; it also decouples the transactions from the consensus phases: A transaction can proceed optimistically and read a tentative GAO version, at the risk of having to roll back, if the consensus protocol happens to reject the chosen version.
